About This Experience

Activity information

Duration: 3 hours · Private boat

Watch wild dolphins glide past your private boat off Bali's quiet north coast — a slow, intimate morning in Lovina, far from the crowded tourist boats that leave every day in formation.

Your captain picks you up in the morning and takes you onto calm waters where pods of wild dolphins feed close to the coast. No twenty-boat flotilla. No shouting. Just your boat, your guide, and the sea opening up around you. When the dolphins pass, you anchor over a quiet reef and slip into the water for snorkeling — equipment and life jackets ready, the morning still belonging only to you.

Everything is private — the boat, the captain, the guide who knows where the dolphins move each morning. You come back with photos no group boat gets, and the feeling of having seen the side of Bali most people miss.

What our guests say

"Three dolphins surfaced ten metres from the boat and we just sat in silence. The captain killed the engine and waited. Nothing rushed. That part stayed with me long after we landed."

Marta Riera

"We slept in Lovina the night before — the team helped us pick a hotel — and the morning light on the water was unreal. Saw a pod of seven dolphins within ten minutes of leaving the harbour."

Frequently asked questions

The dolphins in Lovina are completely wild — they have not been trained, fed, or held in captivity. They live freely in the open sea and come to feed in this area along the morning. We stay at a respectful distance and never chase or touch them. Because the boat is private, there are no shouting groups or sudden movements that disturb the animals.

Lovina is one of the most reliable wild dolphin spots in Southeast Asia — sightings happen on the vast majority of mornings. That said, these are wild animals and we never guarantee. Our captain tracks where the pods have been moving each week and adjusts the route to maximize your chances.

Yes. Life jackets are included for everyone on board, and the snorkeling area is shallow and calm. Children are welcome and the captain stays close to the snorkelers at all times. If you prefer to stay on the boat during the snorkel portion, that's also fine.

Pickup is from 9:00am onwards depending on where you're staying. The boat leaves from Lovina harbour and you're back at your hotel three hours later. The morning timing keeps the sea calm and the dolphins active near the coast.

Lovina is around 2.5 hours by car from Ubud. You can leave Ubud early in the morning to make a 9am pickup, or — for a more relaxed start — spend one night in Lovina before the experience. We're happy to recommend hotels in the area.

Only your group. The boat is fully private — captain and guide included. No other guests, no shared decks, no group dynamics. The boat fits up to 6 people comfortably.

Lovina's north coast has calm seas almost year-round, but in the rare case of unsafe conditions, the captain may delay the start by 30-60 minutes or reschedule to another morning. If neither works for your trip, you receive a full refund.

Exclusivity and curation. Most operators in Lovina run shared boats with 10-30 strangers, leaving from a busy beach in formation with twenty other boats — the dolphins flee, the photos are crowded, the experience feels rushed. Our boat is yours alone, departs separately, and our captain reads the sea — going where the dolphins actually are, not where the group is heading.
